For ALP posts: Candidates must hold a Matriculation (10th pass) plus an ITI certificate in relevant trades, OR a diploma in Engineering from a recognised institution. For Technician posts: ITI in relevant trade (specific trades vary by department).

Medical standards for ALP are among the strictest in government recruitment. Visual standards require distant vision 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other (without spectacles). Colour blindness and night blindness are permanent disqualifications. Regular medical checks continue throughout service.
