Educational Qualification
Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university (or equivalent). Final year students may apply provisionally.

General / UR: Upper age limit is 32 years as of August 1st of the exam year.
Special / Additional Relaxations
- Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989 get 5 years relaxation.
- Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years military service and have been released on medical grounds are eligible.
- PwD candidates who are otherwise eligible for services identified suitable for them receive 10 years cumulative relaxation over their base category limit.

- Age is reckoned as of August 1st of the exam year — not the notification date.
- Attempt count is reset only for specific exemptions; candidates must keep track personally.
- OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate must be of valid current financial year.
- IAS/IPS/IFS require physical standards; medical exam is part of final selection.
